Mission has a rich and diverse natural, built, and cultural heritage which includes parks, gardens, character homes, an historic business district, streetscapes, and public places that collectively give us our sense of place and cultural identity.

The Heritage Award Program was established by the Mission Community Heritage Commission in 2007 to recognize the efforts made by individuals, groups and businesses who have made a significant contribution towards protecting, enhancing and/or restoring these heritage resources. The first awards were presented on February 18, 2008 at a Council meeting as part of Heritage Week celebrations in the community.
